Getting a passport photo taken shouldn’t be complicated. We make it easy by offering official, high-quality passport photos at our Helsinki locations without the need to book ahead.
The photos follow all current requirements for Finnish passports and ID cards. Whether you’re renewing your passport or applying for the first time, you’ll get a photo that meets the necessary specifications — from background color to framing and lighting.
The process is quick. You walk in, we take your photo, and in just a few minutes it’s ready. We also offer the option to send your passport photo electronically to the police system (sähköinen tunniste), which is often required when renewing a passport online.
In addition to passport photos, we can also help with visa, residence permit, and ID photos — all done on the spot.

In Finland, passport photos must meet specific official requirements, such as the correct size (36×47 mm), a light and neutral background, and the person in the photo must look directly at the camera with a neutral expression. The lighting and shadows must be evenly distributed, and the face must be fully visible.
It takes about 5 minutes in total to take a passport photo with us. You can come in without an appointment. The police’s delivery time for a passport or an ID card is approximately 5–8 business days.
Absolutely! Sending passport photos directly to the police’s system is the most common service we offer. We can also send the photo to your email at the same time, conveniently.
In Finland, passport photos are valid for 6 months. During this time, you can use the photos as many times as you want. Other countries may have longer validity periods, but at the very least, they match the Finnish standard.
It is possible to take passport photos yourself, but they must meet the official requirements. Often, photos taken with a personal camera may not have sufficient quality or lighting, so professional photos are usually a safer choice. You can also send us a self-taken photo for evaluation. We’ll give you an honest assessment of whether the photo meets official standards.
You don’t need to bring any specific documents for the passport photo session. Just show up, and the photo will be taken according to the requirements.
We do not recommend wearing glasses in passport photos. However, you can wear glasses, but they must be clear, with no reflections or shadows. Dark lenses are not allowed, and your eyes must be fully visible.

Of course! The police are quite understanding when it comes to children under two years old. The criteria are not as strict as for adults. However, the baby’s eyes must be open and looking towards the camera. For babies under three months, we can also easily support the head during the photo session.
The code is primarily for police services. Traficom is now responsible for driver’s licenses, but they can use the code only after the police have approved the photo.
You will receive the code required for the police system from us immediately, either via text message to your phone, by email, or written on paper. With this code, you can proceed either directly on the police.fi website or at the police station.
